Our Souq business re- launched as Amazon in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in May 2019 and in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2020. We are seeking a seasoned, inspirational leader with strong Retail and category operational expertise to guide the team through this critical phase of growth in the GCC Region. Based in Riyadh or Dubai, this role provides the unique opportunity to build the end- to- end Amazon customer experience from the ground up in one of our highest- potential geographies. The current state of the business (just launched) and through the migration in KSA will require you to work seamlessly at all levels, diving deep to identify and address challenges in real- time, while simultaneously taking a long- term view to set an aggressive and attainable vision for the future.

We are looking for a talented and accomplished business leader to lead its Softlines business reporting into the Softline Director. This leader’s mission is to provide our customers with the most compelling destination for Softline products in GCC by exceeding our customers’ expectations for selection, exciting and efficient Customer experience, pricing, availability, and convenience. The Softlines business is highly strategic to the company and its relationship with customers, and the new leader must be able to “think big” about the scale of the business he or she is building for the market

This leader will be the general manager of the business and thus will have responsibility for all aspects of the business, including buying and vendor relations, pricing, the website customer experience, merchandising, editorial and graphic content, and inventory management and replenishment.

In this capacity, you will be charged with hiring and developing a high- performing team that delivers exceptional results and yields a pipeline of future leaders for the region. You will lead delivery of core inputs including selection growth, vendor negotiations, competitive pricing, and availability, by implementing Amazon best- practices and robust, scalable mechanisms. As the country leader, you will also take end- to- end ownership of the P/L, driving topline momentum while ensuring we achieve continual improvement in profitability. In addition to addressing these business fundamentals, the Candidate will combine data and anecdotes to prioritize solutions against the most critical gaps in our shopping experience. Harnessing this insight, you will build fluency across Technical and Operational capacities as you work with local and global teams to champion and launch improvements to our customer experience.

Strategic Priorities

This leader’s strategic goals will include:

· Substantially increasing the number of brands, products and subcategories available to customers by signing new vendors to supply relationships and creating compelling new product presentations on the website, collaborating with global Softline team.

· Hiring top caliber talent, and motivating and developing existing team members. As the Softlines product lines grow, the new leader’s mission will include creating strong senior leaders to run each of the major categories within Softlines. The goal will be to both create a strong successor for the Softlines leader and also a deep bench of executives who will progress to greater responsibilities across Amazon.

· Creating a compelling shopping experience for customers, defining product roadmap in collaboration with Amazon’s local and global technology teams, site merchandisers and photo studios .

· Working closely with Amazon’s Operations teams to create fast and defect- free delivery of fashion products across GCC while maintaining costs within the company’s financial goals

Core Responsibilities

· Hire and develop a high- performing, cross- functional team that delivers results

· Exceed goals across core retail input metrics including selection, pricing, and availability. Establish scalable input mechanisms to set the business up for success over the long- term.

· Lead top- tier vendor negotiations, including pursuit of key holdout brands

· Establish and own an aggressive growth vision including new customer innovations and category expansion

· Own the P/L for the region, driving consistent performance and addressing unforeseen challenges wherever they may arise

· Build rapport and influence across dependent teams, including senior leaders within relevant Technical and Operations organizations

· Work seamlessly with regional counterparts including Third- party Marketplace and Marketing to deliver an integrated customer experience and joint business results

Position to be based in GCC

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Professional experience in either e- commerce, retail or consulting within a demanding corporate environment

· Proven analytical skills and ability to influence people both internally and externally.

· Decisive and able to move with speed to implement ideas.

· A passionate, self- starter, ready to take Amazon’s local customer experience to the next level.

· Strong and successful communication skills which include the ability to write compelling, concise documents.

· Broad commercial awareness developed in a fast- moving environment.

· Strong retail or product background with proven ability to drive change.

· Clear evidence of managing and motivating a team, both direct and indirect reports.

· Proven English and Arabic skills – both verbal and written.

· University degree ideally in a technical or analytical discipline

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Industry background in Internet commerce and/or FMCG

· Experience in managing vendor relations

· Experience in senior level negotiation
