Head of Buying (Personal & Skin Care, Cosmetics, Own concepts) | Health & Beauty | Retail

To ensure that the brand is delivering balanced, cohesive and commercial product ranges throughout all channels within the business. Responsible for the management of the Health and Beauty Business including Trading and GOBE Category Management; as well as the development of E- commerce channel across categories. Driving strategies for the attainment of category growth in close partnership with key vendors including International partners and exclusive suppliers. Take a cohesive approach to all areas of responsibility in order to maximise business performance and where necessary make adjustments that will support improvement and business continuity. Align all commercial activities related to areas of responsibility in order to maximise profitability and support sustainability and business growth.

Key Accountabilities:

Business Analytics & Commercial Reviews

Originate and develop analyses to help executes better understand financial trends and financial opportunities

Manage meetings and relationships with the suppliers to ensure appropriate cost control, accurate forecasting,

Monitoring and controlling inventory levels v/s Plan and sales performance and insightful business understanding

Identify opportunities and drive the development and implementation of tools that allow for increased, efficient analytical capabilities and that allow executives to understand key financial issues in a timely and effective manner.

Strategic Planning

Work closely with the Leadership Team in formulating overall business strategies for the Division.

Ensuring excellent execution of strategies to achieve Sales and Profitability

Implementing strategic business development projects across categories especially those that will grow GOBE Sales participation.

Establishing plans and strategies that will drive the market share and growth rate.

Productivity Improvement

Ensure appropriate links with internal systems and processes.

Monitor operational performance to determine critical issues.

Design and implement methodologies and frameworks to support business improvement.

Working with Internal Audit & Loss Prevention and Sales Operations to reduce shrinkage.

Financial & Legal Risk

Ensuring compliance to existing policies and regulations within the company as well as government- mandated licenses and regulations


Establishing and managing relations with key suppliers to develop new programs that build categories, drive meaningful differentiation and build customer value.

Leading the team in negotiating with suppliers for other income based on the approved programs and activities.

About You:

Job- Specific Skills

You should have minimum bachelor’s in education and extensive experience in Sales, Marketing and Operations and working in the retail, FMCG/brand management industry.

Sound in depth knowledge of the market, brand positioning and trends, experience in managing skin care/cosmetics.

Understand the local requirements and able to translate them into appropriate buying strategy

An understanding of current economic situations impacts of potential threats and competitors.
